Muslim-majority Tajikistan prohibits hijab use, curbs Eid custom
Tajikistan, where 96% of the population follows Islam, has officially prohibited the hijab for women, calling it an "alien garment". It has also included hefty fines for offenders, equivalent to lakhs of Indian rupees. Along with hijab, the Emomali Rahmon regime has also cracked down on the Eid custom of Idi.
