Two sects clash over who sings first at temple ritual in Tamil Nadu's Kancheepuram
A spat broke out between the Vadakalai and Thenkalai sects of Shrivaishnavites during the annual ‘Paarvettai’ ritual at Kancheepuram’s Varadharaja Perumal temple in Tamil Nadu. The disagreement over who should sing hymns first escalated into verbal and physical altercations, disrupting the procession.
